Alex Schrempf is a performer, composer, and educator based in Kansas City. Alex graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance in 2021. Afterwards, Alex earned his Master of Music in Jazz & Studio Music from the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis where he also worked as a graduate assistant. Through formal training from world renowned saxophonists Adam Larson, Dr. Michael Shults, Dan Thomas, and Bobby Watson, Alex has developed and refined his own personal voice, drawing from inspiration from his mentors and synthesizing it with other prominent influences including Dexter Gordon, Pepper Adams, and Gerry Mulligan.

Already a veteran performer at an early age, Alex has graced prominent stages across the country including The Blue Room at the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City, Fitz’s Spare Keys in Chicago, Alfred’s on Beale and the Green Room at Crosstown Arts in Memphis. While working towards his Master’s degree, Alex founded and hosted the Society Jam Session, held bi-weekly at Society Skatepark in Memphis.
Alex currently serves as the Artistic Administrator for the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra.

As a teacher and performer, Alex places a premium on melody, improvisational dialog, and honoring tradition while blazing new paths.
